Today in Portland it is a snowpocalypse, so everything is shutdown. With no place to go, I thought it was the perfect time to make cinnamon rolls. My Oma used to make her cinnamon rolls on Saturdays and would spend hours making quadruple batches, since they were renowned as the world’s best cinnamon rolls. She’d always make me a special batch with no raisins and extra frosting. I remember her making an orange version a couple of times and today I decided that was just what I needed.
To make these, you’ll need to purchase Danielle Walker’s new cookbook Celebrations. I combined a few of her recipes to make these orange cinnamon rolls. I used her Caramel- Pecan Sticky Buns dough recipe, her Cinnamon Roll filling recipe with a slight modification, and for the best part, I used her Cream Cheese Frosting recipe with slight modifications.
Cinnamon Roll Recipe Modifications:
Add 1 Teaspon of Orange Flavor
Cream Cheese Frosting Modifications:
Substitute 8 Ounces of Green Valley Organics Lactose Free Cream Cheese for the Goat Cheese
Replace 1 Teaspoon of Orange Flavor for the Vanilla Extract (Still Add 1/2 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract)
Add Orange Zest from 1 Orange
